HELLOOOOOO

Hehehe super excited to share my experience after using Onyx Boox Poke 3 for 2 months! oh I named her onyx (not creative, I know) but let’s just stick to that name okk

For those who doesn’t know, Onyx is like Kindle or Kobo. Yes, it’s an e-reader. What makes it different is that Onyx is an Android base device, so practically we can read from Kindle, Gramedia Digital, iPusnas, Scribd, Kompas, or any other online book or article platforms which available on Play Store in just one device! It has so many types with different specifications, just like Kindle and Kobo, and as I mentioned before, mine is Onyx Boox Poke 3.

Let me show you the pictures of onyx:

onyx when get turned off and turned on.

I purchased this online, from YUTmart (you can access them thru Shopee or Tokopedia) with the price of IDR3.295.000. Yes it’s a bit pricey but compared to other e-reader and its capabilities, I think it’s a good deal.

My first impression when I got onyx was: “OMG this is so light!” it’s even lighter than my phone! that’s when I knew I’m gonna start to read more. And of course, the screen is really, really, REALLY paper like! Now this is really a PLUS point for people like me who easily get dizzy every time we get too much of screen time. Another thing that I love is we can also control the blue light and warm light! It helps a lot to read at night.

I’ve been using onyx to read pdf and epub file, books from Kindle, Scribd, and iPusnas, articles from Kompas, YouVersion, and WarungSateKamu. Sometimes, I do google browsing. I made notes on ColorNote and OneNote too. I’ve also tried to listen to music from Spotify (oh anyway, onyx has bluetooth, but no speaker, so you have to connect it to any bluetooth headset or speaker). And i can say that i love this product so much. Honestly, onyx has so many good features but maybe I’ll write about it later. Now let me share my pros and cons:

PROs

#1 It feels like reading from a physical book. No blue light at all, but I can also adjust the blue light and warm light so I can still read comfortably at night.

#2 It’s so light! I can read for an hour while lying in bed without getting tired of holding the device.

#3 It’s now easier for me to get my wish list books! You know, there’s no need to wait for shipment (especially because I’m currently living so far from the center of life🤣)

#4 I read faster with onyx. Before buying this, I was afraid I wouldn’t enjoy the digital reading and somehow I’d end up experiencing the reading slump. But to my surprise, it’s totally the opposite!

#5 The battery is pretty good. It takes approximately 150 minutes to charge from 0 to 100% and it could stay between 5–10 hours of screen usage (it depends on what app I use and whether the WiFi is on or not) and up to 9 days on stand-by mode.

CONs

#1 A bit pricey.

#2 I can’t smell the lovely addictive smell of book. Hahaha, I know I’m not the only one! We all love Bibliosmia, right?

Final thoughts:

Do I still read physical books? Yes, of course! But I think it’s safe for me to say that I grow to love reading more and more because of onyx! If you like to read, an e-reader is a good investment, indeed. So if you have the money and been wanting to buy this, i say go for it.

I hope you find this helpful! See you~
